WIDE-BRIMMED HAT is an original and unique light sculpture, created by Renata Giannelli in 2024 .
The work is born from intertwined iron wire , shaped by hand to create a light, sinuous structure, then covered with cotton fiber paper pulp . The shape recalls that of a large, wide-brimmed hat, reinterpreted in a contemporary key through a simple, material, and highly evocative language.
Warm LED light sources are inserted inside the structure, which, passing through the iron frame and the paper surface, create a suggestive interplay of transparencies, shadows, and volumes . The light enhances the paper's texture and highlights the complexity of the weave, transforming the sculpture into a luminous presence capable of interacting with the surrounding space.
The visual lightness of the structure contrasts with the consistency of the material and the evocative power of the light, creating a work that can be perceived both as a sculptural object and as a luminous furnishing element .
Thanks to its particular structure, the work can be hung on the wall or placed on a table , offering various setting possibilities.
The sculpture measures approximately 65 cm in diameter and 37 cm in height .
This wide-brimmed hat is a unique piece , entirely handmade by the artist. It comes in specially designed packaging, made from sewn and printed jute bags , which further enhances its material and artisanal research.
The work is carefully protected for shipping and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity .
